N. Sherlock Meritorious Service Award

winner Claudia V. Kropas-Hughes is currently the deputy division
chief of the Technology Transition Division at Wright-Patterson Air
Force Base outside of Dayton, Ohio. She has been employed at Wright-Patterson
since 1989, where she has also held the positions of materials engineer
and nondestructive evaluation research leader for the Air Force Research
Lab. Before her career at Wright-Patterson, Kropas-Hughes worked as
the senior NDE engineer for the Aerojet Solid Propulsion Company in
Sacramento, California. She is the professional program chair for ASNT's
T&E Council, and is also a co-chair of the Miami Valley Section.
Kropas-Hughes holds two bachelor's degrees, an M.S. in electrical engineering
from California State University and a Ph.D. in electrical engineering
from the Air Force Institute of Technology. She is the recording secretary
for ASTM's E07 Committee on NDT, and the Radiology Subcommittee chair.
Kropas-Hughes is also a senior member of IEEE and a member of the Society
of Women Engineers.
